Today is the 143 Day (a national day of kindness in honor of Fred Rogers), and I am very excited and honored to be celebrating the launch of the Tomorrow, powered by Remake Learning campaign! Tomorrow is inspired in many ways by Fred Rogers and his empathetic, child-centered, wholly unique approach to learning. “Often, when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else,” Fred Rogers once said. That’s exactly where we find ourselves now.
I have been a long time reader/fan of the incredible Jen Hatmaker. Her words to me have always been like a cheerleader from the pages. Every time I read a new book of hers I feel encouraged and inspired. Fierce, Free and Full of Fire takes it to another level.
To celebrate the all-new 10th anniversary edition of the New York Times Best-Selling National Geographic Kids Almanac, National Geographic invited my family to participate in their annual Bring Your Child to Work Day Event. We were able to enjoy a ton of hands on fun, and educational experiences at the National Geographic HQ in DC. We also got to see the 2020 Almanac, and my kids were instantly obsessed! As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Most likely you know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. I, too, have friends and family members who have had to fight this terrible disease. Some have won, some have lost, and some still fight. My grandmother lost her battle to breast cancer over 15 years ago. I remember thinking how scary the word cancer was. It was an absolute privilege to attend the American Heart Associations EmPOWERED To Serve Summit last week. I was blown away by the stats, as well as the commitment to bring change and address barriers to healthy living and wellbeing in urban communities. It was so great to attend and learn more about the EmPOWERED To Serve movement as a whole.
