In our home music and learning have always gone hand in hand. I think music holds so much potential and is one of the most powerful learning tools out there. I am so excited for the brand new series all about learning through music…Do, Re & Mi!
Do, Re & Mi is an Amazon Original animated series for preschoolers that centers on the musical adventures of three best birdie buddies voiced by Kristen Bell, Jackie Tohn, and Luke Youngblood. Featuring delightful adventures and toe-tapping original songs spanning multiple genres, the series takes little ones on a journey where they will discover new sounds and melodies, move to the beat, and see how music helps solve every problem!
Executive produced by Bell, Tohn, Michael Scharf, and Ivan Askwith, Do, Re & Mi is a production of Amazon Studios and Gaumont for Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+.
I loved being able to hear from the cast themselves about this series and how music impacts us all.
Do, Re, & Mi Interview with Kristen Bell, Jackie Tohn, & Luke Youngblood
Kristen Bell loves being a part of a show that both parents and kids will enjoy together. She shared her take on the importance of music saying, “There is so much science and data that tells us that learning about music at a young age will brighten the neurological pathways of math, of social skills, of mechanics, of engineering. Music does something to your brain, so to have a show that was completely engulfed in music, that taught music so that kids would then have the opportunity to play with the toys that we’ve made or with the apps, to be able to make music by themselves. It’s all about making them smarter, and better, and happier.”
As a parent I can totally relate to this and have seen the benefits of music intertwined with learning. Music education is such a gift and one that many kids are no longer able to receive in schools. This show will help inspire a new generation of kids to learn about music and hopefully develop their own musical interests.
Along with music you get these special mini life lessons in the show too. Do is a nervous and shy little owl who is still learning to fly. Luke Youngblood who is the voice talent for Do shared, “The one thing that I will say about him that I want to instill in my life all the time is that he just never gives up. And like having the support of his friends to keep cheering him on, I think it’s just so important that if you have something that you’re passionate about and really want to succeed in that you have to just keep trying and doing that thing.” I love that this character shows kids it’s okay to not be like everyone else, it’s okay if you don’t have the same skills or talents, you have your own unique ones that are just as powerful!
Do, Re & Mi will showcase songs and music of all genres which is so awesome and fun! There are 52 original songs written by the incredible Jackie Tohn, with goal to bring music, problem solving and life lessons to the doorsteps of children’s homes. Jackie has a background in elementary music education and she is determined to help reach children with the art of music. These songs are engaging and catchy. You will hear it all from pop, rock to soul and everything in between.
