You had us at magic and unicorns! Wish Upon A Unicorn tells the story of two sisters and their father who move from the city to the country to live with their grandmother. On her farm, they miraculously discover and befriend a baby unicorn named Rocco. Rocco has magical powers and gives the girls a little bit of luck, hijinks and a lot of laughter, which makes the adjustment to their new home and school easier. But when the local good for nothing cowboys learn about the magical unicorn, the gang steals Rocco to use his powers for themselves. The sisters must embark on a fun western adventure to save Rocco in this original story full of heart, humor and magical adventures – perfect for the whole family.

My daughter loves unicorns, so she was eagerly awaiting our movie night for this one. My daughter and I had a magical unicorn movie afternoon to watch WISH UPON A UNICORN! Thanks to Party City for supplying us with all things unicorn and to Universal All Access for an early copy of the DVD. How adorable is the unicorn headband and party decor? Give us all the unicorn glam and glitter!
We had to make some fun unicorn inspired treats. We kept it fun and simple by dipping strawberry wafer cookies in icing, and topping with rainbow sprinkles. Yummy!
Spoiler alert, the movie is full of light hearted moments, cute jokes, and yes…unicorns! My 8 year old loved the story and thought it was so neat how these girls discover the sweetest baby unicorn. She loved watching how the sisters took care of their magical discovery. There is the subject of a mothers death, bullying, and a frisky grandmother, hence the PG rating. I thought the themes of believing yourself and overcoming the negativity is much more the focus. I think it this is a wonderful family movie. I love to enjoy this kind of sweet, wholesome content with my kids. The western style rescue storyline was a great touch of added suspense and thrill. If your kids are into unicorns or western type adventures, they are going to really enjoy this story!
