New to Kings Dominion this year is the Taste of Virginia. Guests are invited to come and try the best Virginia has to offer in food, beer, and wine! The culinary team has whipped up some amazing recipes inspired by the various regions of Virginia. You can enjoy all of this home-grown Virginia deliciousness while checking out some of the best local live bands that Virginia has to offer!
Our family was invited to check out this new event, and it did not disappoint. First of all, the atmosphere is fun and inviting. It is located behind Candy Grove and in front of the Rebel Yell. The Taste of Virginia has five food booths with inspirations form the Tidewater, Chesapeake, Blue Ridge Mountains, Colonial, and Piedmont regions. There is also a great selection of wine and beer tastings. There are plenty of picnic tables set up under a tent in front of the band area. This is the perfect spot to hear the music and enjoy some delicious eats!
The food we had was divine! We enjoyed the corn chowder, chicken and dumplings, empanadas, & mac ‘n’ cheese! It was all so good, and we ate every last bite. We also enjoyed biscuits with apple butter. We even went back to get a few seconds of our favorite items. I must say the tastings are sample size, but came in quite generous portions. Our kids really liked this event as well, especially the live music and delicious tastings. It is definitely family friendly. For a sneak peek inside The Taste of Virginia, check out my video tour!
The way this event works is you need to purchase tokens at the welcome booth. You can purchase a Taste of Virginia combo that includes admission PLUS 9 tokens. You can also purchase tokens individually. Food tastings are 2 – 4 tokens each. Wine and beer are 4 tokens each. These tokens are worth the sample size and amazing quality of Virginia products.
