DIY First Aid/Car Sick Bag- No one wants to get hurt or sick, but it is best to be prepared just in case. Having these items on hand will help avoid an extra stop. Throw together these must have items in a ziploc bag.
Wipes
Tylenol
Tums
Motion Sickness Bands
Band Aids
Mini Water Bottles
Ginger Ale
Crackers
Tissue
Plastic Bags
DIY Snack Tackle Box – Snacks are part of the road trip fun! With these bite size snack compartments you can divide up sweet and savory, while keeping an eye on sugar intake. Kids love to eat out of these fun containers. You can find these containers at a craft store, or even some Dollar Stores.
DIY Road Trip Games – Screens are only allowed part of the trip in our car. Keep kids entertained with dry erase scavenger hunt, bingo, and printable activity sheets. These work great in a binder with page protectors or attached to a clipboard. You can tie a pen or dry erase marker to the binder to avoid dropping it in the car. You can also use a shower caddy with suction cups to secure to the window, and add markers/crayons there for easy access too!

DIY Activity Containers – In addition to games, my kids always pack their own fun container. These can be decorated ahead of time, and filled with coloring books, slime, busy toys, snacks and more! I find pencil boxes or the craft boxes with handle work best for these.
DIY Travel LEGO Set- My kids love to build LEGO in the car. With a metal lunch box and some hot glue, you can create the perfect travel size toy to take along with you!
Using a lunch box, hot glue a lego base to the top of the inside, and then fill with lego parts. This is a great option for excess lego, that just is sitting in a bin somewhere anyways. If a piece goes missing, they most likely will never know!
Countdown Bags- No one wants to hear “Are we there yet?” right? These countdown bags help kids keep track of the ride, look forward to the next hour and keep them busy! You can print out these tags, add a time or location for your kids to open them up, and fill with a surprise! You can fill these with candy, a toy, stickers, whatever you think will keep your little ones happy.
