2019 NATIONALS PARK FAMILY FUN

Our family loves a trip to the ballpark! It is a summer time must, and stirs up nostalgia and excitement each time we go. I love that my kids can enjoy seeing ball games and look forward to coming back. The Washington Nationals have a great selection of family fun events, giveaways, themed nights and more in store for their 2019 season!

BALLPARK EVENTS

Theme Nights

2019 Theme Nights will include the brand-new MARVEL Super Hero Day, as well as the return of

STAR WARS Day.

Each Theme Night will involve in-park activations, special scoreboard elements, and on-field pregame

festivities.

A special ticket is NOT required for Theme Nights.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/ThemeGames.

Budweiser Fireworks Nights

Bang! Zoom! Fireworks nights are coming to Nationals Park! Nationals fans will have five opportunities to

watch fireworks light up the sky above Nationals Park.

Fireworks Nights sponsored by Budweiser will include four “Fireworks Friday” games, including Memorial

Day Weekend, Flag Day, and Labor Day Weekend, as well as a special “Freedom Fireworks” show on July 3.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/Fireworks.

Kids Run the Bases

After every Sunday day game, all fans 12 & under are invited to run the bases following the game, weather

permitting. The line for Kids Run the Bases forms outside the ballpark on the First Street sidewalk – participants should exit the ballpark through the right field gate and proceed to the line. The run will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the game and the event usually lasts

about an hour.

Jr. Nationals Kids Club MVP members age 12 and under receive access to an exclusive line that goes onto

the field first.

Racing Presidents Photos

The Racing Presidents and the GEICO Gecko greet fans and pose for photos outside of section 131 during

the fifth inning of every home game. Bring your camera or mobile device!

SPECIAL TICKET EVENTS

Youth Baseball & Softball Days

The Nationals will host three Youth Baseball & Softball Days at Nationals Park, presented by Inova

Children’s Hospital.

Youth Baseball & Softball players, coaches, and parents with a ticket to Youth Baseball & Softball Day

can participate in an on-field parade prior to the April 28 and May 19 games.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/YouthBaseball.

Scout Days

The Nationals welcome Scout troops, families, and friends to join us for Scout Days!

game ticket.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/Scouts.

Girl Scout Days

The Nationals also welcome Girl Scout associations, service units, troops, and families to join us for Girl

Scout Days!

Fans who purchase a special ticket will receive a limited-edition Nationals Girl Scout Patch and a

discounted game ticket. For every special ticket sold, $5 will be donated to the GSCNC.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/GirlScouts.

Peanut-Free Days

The Washington Nationals recognize attending a baseball game can be a challenge for individuals and

families with peanut allergies.

The Nationals have created a peanut-free and nut-free environment at select games to allow individuals

with allergies the opportunity to enjoy the national pastime in our nation’s capital.

The Nationals are offering a Peanut-Free Area at the following home games: April 13, May 25, June

16, July 6, August 18, and September 28.

The Peanut-Free Area will be cleaned thoroughly before each game and reserved specifically for those

fans with a peanut or nut allergy and their guests.

If you have any questions or would like to purchase tickets, please contact Caleb Bohan at

caleb.bohan@nationals.com.

NATIONALS PARK CONCESSIONS & BEVERAGES

Rookies

Conveniently located near the PenFed Kids Fun Zone in Section 143, Rookies is a concession stand

specifically designed for kids.

The menu at Rookies features Jr. Nats Dogs, popcorn, and kids meals.

Healthy Options

In addition to ballpark staples like hot dogs and pretzels, the Nationals offer a variety of delicious, healthy

food options.

Nationals Park is one of the few sports venues across the country to have an exclusively vegetarian vendor,

Melissa’s Field of Greens, in Section 136. Fans can purchase vegetarian tacos, fresh fruit, and other healthy

snacks.

In addition, the Nationals offer gluten-free options at the Gluten Free Grill (located in Center Field Plaza),

such as gluten-free hot dogs, sausages, pulled pork sandwiches, and nachos and cheese.

Kosher options are available at the Kosher Grill in Section 145. The menu includes a chicken schnitzel

sandwich, shawarma, falafel, hamburgers, and kosher hot dogs and sausages.

FUN NATIONALS PARK FOOD FACTS

On average, approximately 720,000 hot dogs, 60,000 sausages, 29,000 cheesesteaks, and 75,000 slices of

house-made pizza are sold at Nationals Park each season.

45,000 pounds of BBQ meat are smoked each year at Nationals Park.

5,700 gallons of ketchup were used by Nationals fans during the 2018 season.

16.09 miles is the longest distance Sr. Executive Chef Vince Navarrete walked in ONE DAY on the job at

Nationals Park in 2018.

BALLPARK FEATURES

PenFed Kids Fun Zone

In order to better serve families with younger children, the Nationals have created a new play structure for

the 2019 season, located off of Center Field Plaza near the Right Field Gate.

Sponsored by PenFed Credit Union, the new structure includes:

A more open concept that features a triple slide and wave climb

Enhanced interactive installations, including a hover ring and the skywheel

A brand-new surface with a mini baseball diamond for kids to run and play

Nursing Mothers’ Lounge

The Nursing Mothers’ Lounge is a fully dedicated space for nursing mothers at Nationals Park.

Located adjacent to Section 223, the air-conditioned lounge includes TVs, comfortable chairs for mothers,

diaper changing stations, a play area for toddlers, and electrical outlets.

Sensory Training

Last season, the Nationals partnered with KultureCity to make Nationals Park sensory inclusive.

Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with

autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar conditions, and Nationals Park is now better prepared to help

guests have the most comfortable and accommodating experience possible when attending any event at the

ballpark.

Sensory bags, equipped with noise canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap

pads are available at all Nationals Park Guest Services locations to guests who may feel overwhelmed by

the environment.

FAN EXPERIENCE

Jr. Nats Kids Club

The Jr. Nationals Kids Club is the best way for kids ages 4 through 12 to show their Nationals pride!

With two different membership levels, families can choose which level works best for their young Nats fan:

A free Rookie Jr. Nats membership includes special meet-and-greet opportunities, exclusive email

offers, and a membership card and lanyard for each Rookie Jr. Nats member.

A $20 Jr. Nats MVP yearly membership includes all Rookie member benefits, as well as an exclusive

Jr. Nats Duffel Bag, Juan Soto Superhero Socks, Nationals Sunglasses, Jr. Nats Bucket Hat, access to a

special line for Kids Run the Bases, a free message featured on NatsHD, a passport to collect stamps

and earn free tickets, and access to lots of special opportunities throughout the season.

Fans looking to learn more about the Jr. Nats program or pick up their membership kit are invited

to visit the Jr. Nats Kiosk, located on the Main Concourse by Right Field Gate.

The Jr. Nats Kiosk is open during every Saturday and Sunday home game from two hours prior to

first pitch through the end of the third inning.

Jr. Nationals MVP members attending Saturday and Sunday home games can also stop by the kiosk

to get their Jr. Nats passport stamped. Fans who collect three or more stamps are eligible to redeem

their stamps for free tickets to a Nationals home game.

More information about the Jr. Nats Kids Club is available at nationals.com/JrNats.

First Game, Foul Ball, and Home Run Certificates

Fans who want to celebrate attending their first game at Nationals Park or catching a foul or home run ball

are welcome to commemorate the experience with a certificate!

Fans can stop by one of three Guest Services locations at Sections 103, 131, or 320 to pick up a certificate.

Certificates are available for free for fans of all ages.

Signature Sundays

Two Nationals players will sign autographs for fans at every Sunday home game all season long.

Autographs will take place at the top of the Nationals dugout starting one hour and ten minutes prior to

first pitch, weather permitting and subject to player schedules.

Fans must obtain a free voucher in order to participate in the autograph sessions – vouchers will be

distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at Section 103, starting when the gates open two hours before

first pitch.

Fans are limited to one autograph voucher per person.

Birthday Parties at Nats Park

The Nationals offer an all-inclusive birthday party package to give your child and their friends an

unforgettable experience!

The pregame birthday party experience begins one hour before first pitch and includes private tables in a

climate-controlled indoor space, party games, a mascot visit and photo, pizza and cupcakes for guests, and a

special gift for the birthday boy or girl from the Nationals.

Once the game begins, your group will have reserved seats together on the Mezzanine Level, and get to see

an in-game video clip of the party on the Nationals Park scoreboard.

Birthday parties are available for children age 12 and under, and must be booked at least two weeks in

advance.

For more information, please visit nationals.com/Birthdays.

the ticket.

Tickets are available through this offer at nationals.com/GovX.

EDUCATION

Cornerstones Program

The Nationals have partnered with DCPS and their Cornerstones program to create a unique baseball-

themed English Language Arts curriculum taught to every first grader throughout the city.

Cornerstones provides all DCPS students with a shared learning experience. For this program, students will

take what they learned about American Symbols out of the classroom for a field trip to Nationals Park.

During the field trip, the students will learn about the history of baseball in their backyard, interact with

the Nationals mascots, enjoy a hotdog, and even get to run the bases on the field.

Summer Reading Programs

For the sixth consecutive year, the Nationals are the sponsor for D.C. Public Library’s Summer Reading

program. Sean Doolittle will kick things off at a special event early in the summer as this year’s player

ambassador.

D.C. Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is the largest District-wide initiative addressing the

“summer slide,” the loss of learning that occurs when students do not read during summer vacation.

The Summer Reading Program activity booklet will feature Nationals-related games, and children ages 6-

18 who register and complete the program will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a Nationals game!

Building on the success of the partnership with DC Public Library, the Nationals are proud to announce that

they will be sponsoring the Arlington Public Library Summer Reading program in 2019.

Juan Soto will be the Nationals player ambassador for the Arlington Public Library Summer Reading

program and he will make a visit to Arlington Central Library to kick off the program.

More information is available at nationals.com/Community.

By providing the uniforms at no cost to these leagues, the Nationals aim to break down financial barriers

that can prevent kids from playing baseball and softball.

To date, the Nationals have saved member leagues nearly $1 million in costs.

Players from these leagues will be given the opportunity to experience a game at Nationals Park through a

complimentary ticket offer and connect with Nationals players when they visit the leagues throughout the

season.

To date, Nationals players have made 33 visits to member leagues through the Team UP program.

BALLPARK TOURS

Want an exclusive look at Nationals Park?

Like in years past, the Nationals will offer ballpark tours on both game days and non-game days. All

proceeds from Nationals Park tours are donated to the Nationals Dream Foundation.

There are a variety of tour options that fans can choose from, such as:

Senator’s Tour (60-70 minutes)

Includes stops in the Shirley Povich Media Area, Delta Sky360 Club, Washington Suites, and

a team store discount

Governor’s Tour (90-120 minutes)

Includes the same stops as the Senator’s Tour, as well as stops in the Visiting Team

Clubhouse, Dugout, Bullpen, and Warning Track

Pre-Game Tour

This tour gives fans a chance to get up close and personal to all the pregame action! Visit the

clubs, suites, concourse, and more before the park opens and learn fun facts from seasoned

tour guides about the history of the Washington Nationals, as well as the venue.

For those hoping to see the ballpark from a different perspective, the Nationals also offer Green Tours,

which provide more information about the ballpark’s LEED certification and green initiatives.

As you can see there is so much family fun to be had this year with the Washington Nationals! Be sure to add a game or two to your summer bucket list!
