My husband and I went to Orlando for the weekend, and it was glorious. Our favorite meal of the week was by far when we sat down and enjoyed a meal at Homecomin’!
Homecomin’ is a newer addition to Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs. The Homecomin’ restaurant honors Florida’s rich agricultural heritage by highlighting local ingredients and farm-to-table cuisine. It is southern cooking at its absolute finest! Homecomin’ is brought to Disney Springs by Chef Art Smith. From his experience as Oprah’s personal chef to opening four incredible restaurants across the country, Celebrity Chef Art Smith calls Florida home. Chef Art has brought his farm fresh Florida dishes to Homecomin’ and you need to visit!
The atmosphere alone makes this place a gem! Dining inside or out on the patio, you are welcomed with a warm greeting and feel as though you are having dinner at your friends house, or on their patio! The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and well attended to. There is no lack of southern charm here.
Let’s talk food! Homecomin’ has a menu that shines with southern cuisine, some traditional, some with a new twist. It was so hard to decide on our entrees! After getting a few recommendations from our fabulous server, we settled on the Basket of Hushpuppies, Fried Chicken & Donuts, & The Chopped Pork Barbecue Plate. Hear me when I say you have not lived until you have tried these hush puppies in a creamy pimento cheese sauce or the spicy red pepper jelly sauce. I alternated between these two dips, and I savored every last bite.
The Fried Chicken & Donuts are Chef Art’s take on Chicken and Waffles. This dish was to die for. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a crispy breading, and the donuts were light and delicious. This is the definition of comfort food. Of course, I dipped each bite in syrup, and I could eat this every night of my life. A must order when you visit!
My husband decided to go with The Chopped Pork Barbecue Plate. He loves southern meat and BBQ, so this was a perfect choice. The meat was so tender, dressed with their homemade sweet and spicy sauce. The accompanying biscuit and mac and cheese were equally delicious and needless to say he ate every bite as well.
Even though we were stuffed, we couldn’t turn down a southern dessert. We decided to share the chocolate cake – perfectly made, decadent, and oh so divine. The prefect way to end our sensational southern meal!
In addition to the southern comfort food, Homecomin’ offers a fantastic drink menu, including their home made Moon Shine! Mixed and mashed with fresh fruit and top shelf liquor to create handcrafted cocktails you can sip ‘till the sun goes down. The drink menu is quite extensive, and there is something on there for all taste buds!
The next time you are visiting Disney Springs, be sure to stop by Homecomin’ for the best southern comfort food around!
We love a good farm to table restaurant! Definitely putting this one on our list when we visit in November! (And your manicure is ADORABLE!!)
This looks like so much fun! I enjoyed following your social media about your travels.
Next time I’m there, I definitely need to check out the Moonshine Menu!!!
