Last month I threw my son a Star Wars-themed party for his 9th birthday. It was a blast! Party planning is a passion of mine. I love any excuse to throw a party 🙂 Whether it’s for 10 or 50 people, I always like to make my get-together fun! There are so many creative ideas out there – the options are endless. My son had a great time with his friends, and to see the smile on his face was priceless! Here are some of my tips & tricks for throwing a Star Wars party.
The Decorations
For the decor, we followed the Star Wars theme colors blue, black, grey, and Yoda green 🙂 I picked up a few generic things like streamers, hanging stars, and balloons in these colors. I also bought some licensed items like the poster and cupcake toppers. Get creative with your space and have fun with it! Before I go to Party City, I always check the Dollar Store for solid color decor. Five Below and And That! also carry Star Wars party decor (cheaper than Party City). We created a backdrop by combining table cloths with the poster and cutout stars (I love my Cricut!). My friend Samantha did a great job drawing storm troopers on white balloons with a black sharpie. We hung them upside down in my basement! I also always lay out whatever character items that we have (or in this case, borrowed) just to give the decor an added touch.
The Food
Star Wars-themed everything! Seriously, check out Pinterest for endless cool food ideas. We did Princess Lays, Hans Rollos, Edible Ewoks, and more! Check out Over The Big Moon blog for cute, printable, themed food labels. I also created Yoda Soda bottle labels and put them around individual green Hawaiian Punch.
The Games
I kept this simple as well. I made lightsabers out of pool noodles and black tape. I let the kids battle each other! Boys hitting one another with pool noodles – enough said 🙂 (I did not make the noodles pictured, this was my inspiration!) I also printed Jedi Knight certificates for the kids to receive after their “training.” You can find those over on Libbie Grove Desing.
The Favors
I purchased solid blue bags and printed the Star Wars logo to glue onto them. Find the thank you labels over on The Contemplative Creative. I included Ewok gummies, Light Saber bubbles, and Star Wars jelly beans. They were a big hit!
