Summer time is here in the DMV! We love spending time outside and in the pool, but sometimes it is nice to have a indoor activity! Cue a giant list of FREE or highly discounted moveis! Movies are a great way to take a break from the heat this summer. I have put together a list of all of the places offering FREE or discounted movies this summer! Check it out!
Summer Movie Express Regal Cinemas- Family fun movies playing on Tuesdays & Wednesdays for the summertime! Admission to the Summer Movie Express is only $1. Tickets available for purchase at the box office and all movies in most locations start at 10:00 am. Check with your theatre for exact showtimes. Each week both movies play on both days. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Will Rogers Institute. Get locations & times here!
University Mall Theatre– Movies play at 10 am daily, Monday-Friday. All seats $2.00. On Tuesdays popcorn and drinks are also $2.00!
Alamo Draft House Kids Camp– All Kids Camp screenings are Pick Your Price – $1-$5 with 100% of ticket sales donated to local nonprofits and schools. Simply select “edit order” in the checkout process to choose your ticket amount. They have awesome showings scheduled like The LEGO Movie & Trolls!
Paragon Theater Fredericksburg– First Come, First Serve. Tickets not available in advance. Doors open 15 minutes before movie time. Regular concessions are available.

Be sure to check for cancellations before you go. You are free to bring your own chairs, blankets, and snacks to these locations.
National Harbor Movies on the Potomac- Sunday nights at 6pm and Thursday nights at 7pm, May-September. Sundays are all about family movies—favorites include Matilda, Charlotte’s Web, Holes and Moana. Thursdays are for date night but many selections are great for families, too, such as Mean Girls and Forrest Gump.
Capitol River Outdoor Movie Series- Canal Park in the Capitol Riverfront near the Navy Yard Metro. Thursday nights at sundown, June 7-August 23. You can catch new films like The Greatest Showman and Coco, and classics like A League of Their Own.
Arlington Mill Community Center Plaza-Friday nights at sundown, June 1-August 31. You’ll find a ton of family-friendly films including Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Coco and Toy Story.
Stonebridge Potomac Town Center- Back with their popular Movie Under The Stars! These movies will take place Saturdays nights 8 pm. Check out their Facebook Page for movie listings.
