Now that Spring has officially decided to stay, that calls for refreshments! Some might go for the nearest soda or surgary filled juice, but honestly… I reach for Honest Tea! I love the selection that Honest Tea has to offer. One of my favorite drinks has to be the Half and Half. Yes, I love a cool, refreshing Honest Tea beverage over any soda, any day!
5 Honest Tea Facts You Might Not Know
Organic- It begins with organic. Did you know a tea leaf is not typically rinsed between the time it is harvested and the time it is brewed? All of our teas are certified organic according to standards set by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and enforced by accredited third-party certifying agents.
Hand Plucked- Honest Tea leaves are picked by hand. “Pluckers” in our tea gardens in China and India select the delicate top two leaves and bud of the Camellia sinensis plant, which is the single source of the black, green, white and oo-long varieties we brew. The leaves are subsequently dried and processed, often through heat and/or oxidation (a natural chemical reaction of the leaf’s enzymes that alters its flavor, color and aroma).
Fair Trade Certified™-All of our tea is Fair Trade Certified™. Fair trade certification empowers farmers and workers to fight poverty through better trade. When purchasing fair trade ingredients, we pay a “premium” on top of the market price that goes directly back to the growing communities for locally-determined development projects in areas such as healthcare and education.
Real Brewed- Real brewed tea in a bottle? Absolutely! We heat water and steep our tea leaves before bottling, just as you might do at home.
Compost Leaves- Just as it begins, it ends in the soil. Whenever possible, the spent tea leaves are added to compost, helping enrich the soil at farms near our three tea production facilities.
As you can see, this is a real brewed organic tea. So t’s clear the quality is there, but what about the flavor? Well, I have loved every one I have tried. Besides the Half and Half, my second choice flavors are all of the Honest kid’s line! My three little ones drink these up! Sweetened only with fruit juice and just 40 calories, these are a mom’s go-to beverage with a quick snack or packed lunch. With flavors like Super Fruit Punch and Apply Ever After, your kids will be satisfied. I can say these are Kid Tested AND Mom Approved 🙂
