Last night my family and I entered the big white tent that currently resides at Tyson’s Corner Center. We quickly discovered this is not your average play, or circus tent for that matter. This spectacular show takes place in a 360 tent with an automated set and computer generated imagery. It is like a live action 3D show! To say my family and I were blown away is an understatement.
Producers Norton Herrick of Herrick Entertainment and Charlie Burnell of Threesixty Entertainment are pleased to announce this spectacular new stage production of PETER PAN, which makes its Washington area premiere, running now through August 16. The national tour includes Dan Rosales (Peter Pan), Stephen Carlile (Captain Hook/Mr. Darling), Liam Fennecken (Smee), Annapolis native Sarah Charles (Wendy Darling), Scott Weston (Michael Darling), John Alati (John Darling), Jessie Sherman (Tinker Bell), Hannah Jane McMurray (Mrs. Darling), and Andreas Wyder (Bill Jukes/Skylights). These actors and actress do a fantastic job at bringing these characters to life in the 360 theater.
This production features 20 actors, stunning puppets, epic music, dazzling flying sequences, and the world’s first 360 degree CGI (computer-generated imagery) theatre set, this unique production of PETER PAN is presented in the striking setting of the Threesixty Theatre at Tysons Corner Center (8200 Watson Street, McLean, VA). The show is performed in the round in a 1,500-seat theatre-tent. The entire interior is lit with more than 15,000 square feet of Hi Resolution video, so that both cast and audience are immersed in a virtual Neverland!
How amazing does that sound?! I can tell you my kids’ jaws dropped at the scene changes and tummies tickled as we felt like we, too, were flying to Neverland. During intermission my husband said this is one of the best live shows he has ever seen! Peter, Tinker bell, Wendy, and the rest of the cast exceeded my expectations for the night. This show was beautiful, heartwarming and the familiar story we all know and love shown in a new and unique way.
Peter Pan has been shown on television, made into a famous 1953 full-length animated film by Walt Disney film, and been made into three other movies: PeterPan in 1924; the Steven Spielberg version, Hook in 1992; and most recently, Peter Pan in 2003. It is clear this is a beloved story that creator J.M. Barrie has brought to life, and cherished by many. This is a must see show that the whole family can enjoy!
