She is here! This year’s BeForever Doll, Nanea is here! My girls were so excited to meet her and wasted no time introducing herto all of their other dolls. Nanea Mitchell is a kind hearted and helpful 9 year old girl from the island of Oahu, 1941. My girls loved meeting her and learning all about her story!
Nanea’s story focuses on the bombing of Pearl Harbor, its aftermath, and how Nanea embraces her spirit of aloha and deeply held belief in “kokua”, which means doing good deeds and giving selflessly, to do her part for the war effort and help restore peace to her beloved Hawaiian home. I love that American Girl uses their BeForever dolls to help children learn and understand history. My girls were captivated by Nanea’s story, and loved her aloha spirit! Not only is she a beautiful doll,and has brought many hours of play, she also taught my daughters a little more about history and the importance of doing good.
American Girl is committed to doing good, and along with Nanea’s debut, they will donate funds to the American Red Cross and their Service to the Armed Forces mission to provide care and comfort to veterans, members of the military, and their families. From today until Dec. 31, the company will match any customer donation, up to $75,000 maximum, made at americangirl.com or at any American Girl store in the U.S. They will also donate $575,000 worth of its signature 18-inch dolls to provide comfort in times of need. What a fabulous way to teach our daughter about giving back!
The Nanea collection features the beautiful 18-inch-doll with hazel eyes and dark brown wavy hair. She arrives in an authentic 1940s-style outfit: A button-front pake blouse with an island graphi, sailor-style moku short, underwear, shoes with crisscross straps, and a faux-hibiscus flower hair clip. Nanea also comes with her book, Growing Up with Aloha, the first of her book series. There are several 1940s-era, Hawaiian-inspired outfits and Nanea-inspired apparel for girls. My two already have their eye on many of Nanea’s fun accessories! Nanea is the high quality product you would expect from American Girl, and she does not disappoint. From her hair to her clothes, she is made to play and made to last. My girls have not let her out of their sight. Nanea is the perfect addition to the BeForever dolls!
