My family and I are so excited to attend this show and experience the astounding production in person! I am very excited to see the human rocket, Skyler Miser! Being a human rocket is in Skyler Miser’s DNA. As a second-generation Ringling™ performer, she is following in her family’s footsteps and preparing to WOW audiences in The Greatest Show On Earth® I had the chance to speak with Skyler about her love for performing and what she is most excited about!
Skyler Miser The Human Rocket!
Skyler Miser is a second-generation circus performer and the “Human Rocket” with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. The daughter of Brian Miser (aka “The Human Fuse”) and Tina Miser, she grew up in the circus world, making her first appearance at age 2. Trained by her parents, she experienced her first cannon launch at 11 and now performs daring human cannonball stunts, soaring 110 feet through the air at 65 mph. Skyler continues her family’s legacy while thrilling audiences with her high-flying act.
When did you first experience a cannon and how did you get this job?
“My parents had had a long career working with Ringling, so they reached out to my dad and asked if he knew anybody that could do it. And he said, My daughter, she’s ready to go. My very first time flying out of the cannon I was 11 years old. My dad made an eight foot long miniature cannon for a clown over in England, and before he sent it over, he asked if I wanted to be the test dummy. And of course, I was like, Yes, I’m ready to fly!”
How intense is the cannon experience?
It’s such an adrenaline rush, but it is scary, but it’s so fun at the same time. I always say that the canon is a lot of like mental strength as well. It’s about seven times the force of gravity. We don’t have any protective gear.”
What is your favorite act to watch?
“There are so many amazing acts in the show. We have a triangular high wire, which has never been done before. We have a crisscross trapeze. I think my favorite act to watch is the double wheel of destiny.”
If you could trade places and learn a new act what would it be?
“I think I would trade with one of our teeter board troops. They are so, so amazing. They do a six person high pyramid, wow, which is so insane. One guy does five backflips. I would love to just be able to feel how that is.”
