Star Wars: The Last Jedi Does Not Disappoint!

In a galaxy far, far away you get to see this epic story continue. Star Wars: The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens left off. Rey is trying to develop her newly discovered abilities and is desperately trying to receive the guidance of Luke Skywalker. Skywlaker is certainly taken back at her power and strength. Rey is seeking his guidance and help in order to return and help the Resistance, who is preparing for the First Order.

We also see Kylo Ren and his intensely strong battle continuing to tug at his core: light and dark. He is on a mission to deliver Rey and must make a choice once again, which side he chooses to stand. I enjoyed watching this inner battle play out, though I’m not convinced his decision is final.

It was magnificent to see General Leia lead the Resistance with strength, poise, no backing down, courage and with hope. No one could ever bring to the screen what Carrie Fisher does as General Leia. She leads the Resistance to safety with the help of Poe, Finn, and Rose- a rebellious, brave member of the Resistance.

Many questions are answered and many are left still yearning for truth and closure. You do get to see a tidbit of Luke and Kylo Ren’s relationship. There is certainly much to be revealed. In true Star Wars fashion, the battles are epic, the torment and torture to choose a side is alive and well, the force is awakened in Rey, and she is a powerhouse.

I saw the movie with my 11 year old son, and it was appropriate for his age level. If your child has seen a Star Wars film before, this one is no more intense or violent. The story has fight scenes, death, and very mild language. There are many intense scenes, and a few sad scenes, but also some comedic relief. I love anytime the droids are on screen! Chewbacca is also fun to see on the big screen. I really loved seeing the new creatures on the island Luke has been living on, the Porgs. There are a few other memorable characters that you will get to see, too 🙂 Though this film is rated PG 13, I think this would be good for families with kids ages 6 and up, especially if they have seen previous Star Wars films. Keep in mind it has a run time of 2 hrs and 32 minutes, but every second is entertaining and captivating!
