From Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, comes a heartwarming new take on the beloved classic The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. When the town’s most notorious troublemakers, the Herdman kids crash the annual church Christmas play, everyone expects chaos. But as these wild siblings bring their honesty and wonder to the Nativity story, the entire community rediscovers the true meaning of Christmas: grace, love, and the unexpected joy of seeing Jesus’ birth through fresh eyes. Filled with humor, heart, and holiday spirit, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a film for the whole family that reminds us no one is too lost to be found. I am so excited to make this an annual watch in our home! I recently got to chat with Director Dallas Jenkins, watch the full interview below!
Dallas Jenkins is an American filmmaker, writer, and director, best known as the creator and director of The Chosen, the popular multi-season TV series about the life of Jesus. Before The Chosen, Jenkins directed a number of faith-based films, including:
-
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone (2017) – a comedy-drama about a washed-up actor who pretends to be a Christian to land a role in a church play (also produced by Blumhouse Tilt and WWE Studios).
-
What If… (2010) – a modern-day “It’s a Wonderful Life” story.
Jenkins helped bring The Best Christmas Pageant Ever book to life through a new feature film adaptation of the story.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (2025), is directed by Dallas Jenkins and produced by Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company. The film stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, and Elizabeth Tabish (who also plays Mary Magdalene in The Chosen). I love how it perfectly combines humor, heart, and faith to bring this classic Christmas story to a new generation!
