Before the holidays, my family and I had the privilege of sitting down to one of the most delicious homemade Italian meals I’ve had in quite some time. The view from a booth at Carmine’s gives you an instantly warm and cozy feeling. It took me back to feelings of being in my grandmother’s house at meal times. From the beautiful custom chandeliers to the family style meals, Carmine’s is an experience for everyone.
Carmine’s first location opened August 14, 1990 at 2450 Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The menu is full of classic Italian choices plus Italian with a bit of flair. All dishes are served family style, offering exceptional value to its guests through the many dishes of Southern Italian cuisine. Our mouths began to water as we read the menu descriptions. It took us a while to make the right selections… we wanted to try so many items! But they are huge dishes, each entrée intended to feed about 4 to 6 people. So we could only choose a couple if we didn’t want leftovers for the week 🙂 Still, we went all out and ordered the Garlic Bread to start, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken Marsala, Rigatoni Country Style, and the Titanic dessert with a couple of cappuccinos to top it all off!
Every item we ordered was fantastic. The chefs at Carmine’s really know how to do Italian food! Our kids gobbled up the Spaghetti and Meatballs and they loved the cheesy Garlic Bread with it. We definitely over-indulged and still had leftovers for dinner the next night (which I might add, were just as good as the day before). The quality of the food turned out to be much higher than our expectations. We went planning on having a great meal, but it really blew us away bite after mouthwatering bite. We were more than satisfied!
It is very important to remember that Carmine’s is a family style restaurant, with each menu item feeding about 4-6 people. Carmine’s also provides complimentary valet for your food! Yes, you read that right! You can park and have dinner at Carmine’s and they will refrigerate your leftovers for you to pick up later. Go to a show, game, concert and return to your car and food safe and sound! That is a deal you cannot beat. They also provide catering and are very well equipped to host large parties, company events and more! I can’t wait to go back with more family and friends this year.
