It’s the weekend and what better time to see the hottest family friendly movie…The LEGO Batman Movie!! My husband and kids had the chance to screen this movie last weekend and they all came home raving about it!
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman (Will Arnett) – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
Will Arnett brings the humor for both kids and adults, creating many laughable moments throughout the film. You get a peek into Batman’s world, which can seem a bit lonely. Despite his tough guy facade, Batman needs a friend (we all do!). Batman realizes Robin & Batgirl may just fill the lonely void he’s been feeling. Of course, the story is sandwiched between action packed scenes and terrifically funny humor from the cast.
My kids loved seeing LEGO come to life and were excited to see some of their favorite DC Comics heroes and villains, LEGO-sized, on the big screen. Zach Galifianakis brings the Joker to life, but not the sinister Joker you have come to know. This villain is full of wisecracks. Michael Cera as Robin is pure comedic gold. What Robin may lack in the fighting department, he makes up for with his over excitement and enthusiasm. Rosario Dawson as Batgirl is just so boss! She can keep up with Batman and fight her own fights, too! There are many more characters, but these three were the favorite (besides Batman, obviously!).
If your kids liked The LEGO Movie, they are going to love The LEGO Batman Movie just as much, if not more! Running time of 106 minutes. It is the perfect family activity this weekend! See it in theaters everywhere February 10th!
