A mother, daughter day out is always something my girls and I look forward to. I treasure the moments I get to spend time with my daughters. What better way to do so than a special lunch at the American Girl Bistro, located in Tysons Corner! Now, if you know my girls, you know how much they love dolls, and any excuse to get dressed up. They were beyond excited when I said we were heading out for the afternoon to one of their favorite places.
If you have never been, The American Girl Doll store at this location has not only a two level store full of dolls and accessories, but also a Doll Salon and full service restaurant. The Bistro has a perfectly pink atmosphere designed just for little girls and their dolls. The menus are filled with delicious foods girls love, and you can have a special seats for doll friends, too. I recommend making a reservation, even if you just plan to have dessert. This is a very popular place!
Once you arrive and check in, you are offered a doll chair and taken to your seat. This Bistro location offers a Brunch, Afternoon Tea, as well as a Lunch & Dinner menu. Your server can explain the ordering process. Since we were there for lunch, each of us got to select a scrumptious starter and a marvels main course for $17.00, 4 and under are $7.50. The menu offers a kid and adult pleasing variety of items. There is much to choose from. My youngest had the Perfect Picnic Time, which came with a bitty burger or a mini hot dog served with mac and cheese, crisp pickles, and a fresh fruit kabob. My oldest went for the Butterfly Pasta which was Bowtie pasta tossed with butter and Parmesan cheese, served with a soft breadstick and fresh fruit. They both really enjoyed their meals. My youngest loved the mini foods that came with her picnic meal. I enjoyed the Bacon Cheddar Burger, and there are some really tasty looking salad options, too! It’s a win for both parents and kids.
Don’t skip on dessert! The American Girl Bistro has so many must try items! My youngest absolutely loved the Sweet Shop Cupcakes, where she got to decorate cupcakes for her and her doll. This dessert came with your own pastry bag of frosting plus sprinkles to make your sweet creations! So fun! My oldest loves cookies, so she had to get the Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie Sundae. This was a giant chocolate chip cookie, served warm and gooey and topped with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream. It was huge and it was amazing! I stuck to a classic milkshake. None of the desserts disappointed. I would go here again just for a fun dessert!
The American Girl Bistro really wants kids to have a fun and memorable experience. Shortly after we were greeted, our server brought placemats and dishes for each doll. The girls thought this was so neat! At each table are also a set of conversation starters. We enjoyed asking each other what item would we have to bring on a road trip with us, and what would be our super power of choice. It really was the total experience. Such a fun atmosphere, great service, delicious food, and of course delectable desserts, all including the dolls in on the fun!
