Our favorite Peanuts Character Snoopy has brought some of his coolest looks to display at the Fair Oaks Mall during the Snoopy & Belle In Fashion exhibit! I had the pleasure of checking out the exhibit and speaking with the Producer, Melissa Menta.
First of all, this exhibit is impressive. There are so many interesting designs and styles to see. We spent over a half an hour browsing, and we could have stayed longer! There are over 50 designs to see! When I asked Producer, Melissa Menta about her favorite design, she mentioned it was the Betsey Johnson Snoopy & Belle, because of the creativity and long time partnership with Snoopy fashion. So much goes into these designs, they are really cool!
I, however, loved the Oscar inspired pieces by Colleen Atwood. Melissa shared with me that Atwood pays homage to two of her Oscar winning films for the exhibit. Snoopy is dressed as the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland and Belle as a geisha girl from Memoirs of a Geisha. Atwood used fabric from the actual costumes in the films for the design!
More About The Exhibit
DC STYLE In celebration of Washington D.C.’s political style, the exhibition of 10” vinyl Snoopy and Belle dolls will feature all new one-of-a-kind creations by Livelihood’s Ashley Biden, the daughter of former Vice President Joe Biden, and Barbara Tfank, fashion designer for former First Lady Michelle Obama, among other luminaries. Biden’s mini-couture outfits spotlight her new signature brand of Livelihood hoodies, while Tfank’s designs will be exact replicas of two dresses that Mrs. Obama wore to state events. I loved both of these designs!
Biden and Tfank will be joining a group of the world’s foremost fashion names—including Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, Bibhu Mohapatra, Calvin Klein Collection, Children of our Town, Christian Siriano, Colleen Atwood, Costello Tagliapietra, Cristiano Burani, Danskin x Jenna Dewan Tatum, DSquared2, Diane Von Furstenberg, DKNY by Donna Karan, Dries Van Noten, Emanuel Ungaro, Edwin Oudshoorn, Isaac Mizrahi, Isabel Marant, J. Mendel, Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala, Kaviar Gauche, Kenneth Cole, Le Mont St Michel, Le Snob, Levi’s, Lisa Perry, MAC Cosmetics, Macario Jimenez, Marta Larsson, OP, Opening Ceremony, Philip Treacy, Rachel Zoe, Rodarte, Royal Asscher x Pluma, Stetson, Swarovski, Tracy Reese, Trussardi, Venera Arapu, VPL by Victoria Bartlett, and Zac Posen.
A new Snoopy & Belle In Fashion App guides visitors through the exhibit, provide insider information about the history of the brand and the designers, and offer a chance to vote for your favorite doll set. A directory within the app also allows fans to find locations within the Fair Oaks Mall where customers can purchase Peanuts product as well as the designers’ wares.
