Raise your hand if you like to sleep through the night! I imagine most/all of you mamas are raising your hand. Now how many of you have babies that sleep through the night (at least 8 hours), no problem? I would imagine not as many hands are up. I know how important sleep is for both mom and baby. We all know when baby is sleeping well, mama sleeps well. Here are some of my top tips for helping your baby get a good night’s rest.
-
Establish a routine– Even at a young age, babies crave routines. Bath time, books, bed (or however you do it). Your baby will begin to learn what follows and expect it.
-
Plan your baby’s sleep schedule– Choose a nap time and bedtime and stick to it. Energetic or fussy behavior can be a sign of sleepiness. If your baby gets fussy, try an earlier bedtime.
-
Use essential oils– I love using lavender and chamomile on my kids. It works wonders. When my kids were little I would give them massages while singing lullabies. It really does relax their little muscle.
-
Encourage your baby to fall asleep on her own- Put your baby down when drowsy but still awake. When your baby wakes up, give her a few minutes to settle back to sleep.
-
Use Huggies® OverNites Diapers– Your baby needs to be able to sleep without waking to be changed. These diapers offer up to 12 hours of protection.

My #1 tip to get baby to sleep is to lay them down when they are drowsy and lay a hand on their back!
My baby falls asleep really well when I nurse her right before I lay her down. She gets really sleepy milk drunk eyes and passes right out 🙂
My son can’t hold his eyes open after I turn on the Sleep Sheep.
My son loves being read to and that helps him get ready to sleep.
We read to our kids before bed and try to wear them out during the day!
As a Chiropractor, I understand the importance of soft tissue massage and manipulation for children! When my little one is fussy, I massage his belly in order to release any tension he may have.
A slow soothing song as you rock them and then gently lay down in their bed
