Peter Quill and his misfit crew are back at it saving the galaxy yet again in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2. It is safe to say that this sequel did not disappoint. In fact, I can say that I like this one just as much, if not more, than the first! This is a stellar sequel and you will love it. Obviously.
In Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. They set out and complete the mission. But when the Sovereign crew realizes that Rocket has stolen some of the batteries, the Sovereign are out for vengeance. A new battle has begun! As the Guardians try to escape, Peter’s long lost Father comes into the picture. You get to see a glimpse into Peter Quill’s past, and light is shed on issues Peter thought he had the facts on.
In true Guardians fashion, there is all kinds of action, fun, and sarcasm packed in along the way! Of course, the movie is set to a pretty awesome soundtrack, which is Peter’s Mix Tape Vol 2. I have to say, there were many times in the theater I was tapping my foot and and humming along. I do love Peter’s taste in 80’s music! Baby Groot steals the show at many points along the way. He is handed a few heavy tasks in order to help out his fellow Guardians, and he delivers! I also like how Peter and Gamora dealt with their “unspoken thing.” You have to admit, there is something going on there. The new characters intruded in Vol 2. add even more depth to the film. Ego, Mantis, Ayesha, and Taserface all make fantastic characters in the film.
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 deliveries a magnificent sequel. The movie is Rated PG 13 with a few innuendo moments and language, similar to the first movie of the franchise. The run time is 2hr and 18 min. I laughed, I awwed, I sang, I gasped, and yes I even got a little teary eyed. You have to see for yourself how Vol 2 plays out, but trust me when I say it will be epic. Obviously.
